Equipment Program
Deaf Action Centers are regional resource centers for deaf and hard of hearing citizens. They provide information and referral services, advocacy, community education, interpreting services and distribute equipment.
The Louisiana Commission for the Deaf (LCD) sponsors the program through which equipment is distributed. There is no charge to deaf, hard of hearing, deaf-blind or speech impaired individuals who live in Louisiana. Available equipment includes text telephones (TTY/TDD), telebrailler/braille phones, voice carryover telephones, telephone signaling devices and amplification equipment. Contact the nearest distribution center for more information.
To apply for LCD services, locate your Regional Service Center and contact their staff. You can call, TDD, e-mail or walk in for an appointment to complete the application and have a caseworker determine eligibility.
Consult the "Deaf Action Centers" page in this section of our website for a list of regional service centers.
