The first Story Cafe' sponsored by the Louisiana School for the Deaf in Lafayette was a huge success. More than 40 people were in attendance, including 8 families served by LSD's Parent Pupil Education Program and many members of the deaf community.
Missy Mills, coordinator of LSD's Sign Language and Interpreting Services, presented an ASL reading of the children's book, The Snowy Day. Following a requested second telling of the story, Barbara Mergist with Hands & Voices led the group in a craft activity.
Comments on the Story Cafe' presentation were all positive and people were already asking when the next Story Cafe' will be held!
