The Louisiana School for the Deaf would like to welcome Dr. Ronardo Reeves as our new Chief Academic Officer (CAO). As CAO, Dr. Reeves will be responsible for overseeing academics in our school for students in Preschool through Grade 12. He will be instrumental in LSD's implementation of the Common Core State Standards next year, as well as analyzing test data to aid in determining appropriate programming for students. We are fortunate to have his knowledge and expertise to help guide us as we begin planning for the 2012-2013 school year!
A special note from Dr. Reeves...
"My experience as an educator has afforded me various opportunities and experiences. My career began as a paraprofessional In Dekalb county Georgia, which led me to teach with a special education provisional certification. I expanded my career as a school counselor at both the middle and high school level in the metro Atlanta area, before being afforded the opportunity to further my career in leadership as an assistant principal. I am also the proud father of a 13 year old deaf daughter. My experiences have given me a unique view of the educational process. As a parent, community member, educator/administrator, and counselor, I am able to look at situations and approach them in a multitude of ways.
It is my belief that all students can learn and have the ability to make gains if challenged. As educators it is our responsibility to challenge students and set high expectations in instruction. We must insure that we foster an environment for rigor and push rigor in all subject areas."
