Poetry Slam Honors

Last weekend, the LSD High School Poetry Slam team competed at the All City Teen Poetry Slam. Although they did not place in the final competition, they made such a positive and strong impact throughout the workshops and competition that the directors and organization have awarded Mrs. Lisa Cook with the Coaches' Award. The team has been invited to showcase one of their poems at the opening of the final competition. Paige Watson and Kendra Scott will represent LSD and perform their team poem entitled, "HEAR US!"

Once again, Forward Arts' WordPlay Teen Writing Project proudly presents the 2013 ALL CITY Teen Poetry Slam Festival finals competition! It will be held at the Manship Theatre on Saturday, May 11th at 6 PM!

 The 5 teams competing for the championship AND the right to represent at the Brave New Voices International Poetry Slam are EPISCOPAL HIGH, ISTROUMA HIGH, DUTCHTOWN HIGH, MCKINLEY HIGH, and MSA ACADEMY! 

With additional opening poems from LOUISIANA SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF, EAST FELICIANA HIGH, BATON ROUGE YOUTH COALITION and ZACHARY HIGH!

*There will also be a featured performance from 2013 Women of the World Poetry Slam Champion, Denise Frohman!
