Special Needs

We are in the LSD High School/Middle School building where we are now participating with the High School Special Needs class. We have many fun and creative activities planned for this year to involve your child in a variety of educational experiences. These will include fundamental cooking skills, ASL classes, field trips, library, Speech/Communication and APE class with their peers from High School Special Needs class. Additionally, we will NOW be involved in group art projects in our very own Special Needs Activity Room with opportunities to create, make and display many hands-on art activities. Also, we will participate in the Simulated Sheltered Workshop where we will focus on Pre-Vocational/Career, hands-on/manipulative skills. These skills will benefit us later by developing attention to task, fine motor, task completion, time management skills.

In addition, each student will be addressing specific skill based goals to help them become more independent and functional individuals. Self-help and self esteem goals will be included so your child will feel competent, useful and productive. Because of our hands-on, one on one instruction, your childs educational day will be filled with valuable lessons and skills based on their unique needs and as well as their talents and interests.
